Career transitions (e.g., software engineer to urban planner) are not a straight path toward some predetermined identity but a crooked journey along which we try on a host of "possible selves" we might become. The process is not linear or fast, but it can be easier with a coach on your side.

A typical career coaching engagement lasts 3 to 6 months, with meetings scheduled as often as necessary to help you achieve your goals.

You don't need to make a perfect career decision! Make an informed decision. Take a breath and focus on how great it is even to have decisions to make. Choose a better career adventure!

Your Career Change Journey

Step 1: Go Broad

Know Yourself – You will complete a combination of personality and career assessments, feedback from others, readings, and self-reflection activities to clarify your interests and skills.

Know Your Options – You will zoom out to learn about various jobs and career options that you may find interesting. During that exploration, you will collect new information that will allow you to screen in and out different options.

Networking – You will tap into your current network and expand your network to get a realistic preview of your career possibilities. This information will guide your final choice. Plus, you will benefit from your network later during the job search.

Step 2: Go Deep

Experiment – You will make a deep dive into the most promising careers/jobs. That might take the form of shadowing, volunteering, taking a side project, or a part-time job.

Decide and Commit – The point of all this work is to make sure you make an informed decision. Before investing more time and energy, make sure you have the right career goal.

Upskilling – Once you have the answer about your future career, you could either update your resume or update your skills. You might need to explore certifications, traditional degrees, trade schools, or other alternatives.

Step 3: Go Forward

Resume and LinkedIn – We will tailor your experience to show up strong in your resume and LinkedIn profile. We will find the right keywords that will attract recruiters and hiring managers to you.

Interview Preparation – We will role-play various interview questions, and you will learn the formula for answering questions.

Offer Negotiation – We will go through the negotiation process together until the offer is signed and you get the highest percentage of your targeted compensation package (salary and other benefits).
